Water management and food farming

Project region :  Murillo province

Aim : Set up water management facilities to increase productivity and develop livestock farming

Course of action :

  • building irrigation facilities
  • building a dam
  • set up pastures for the livestock
  • encourage farmers to choose alternative crops
  • building solar tents

 

Managing water saves lives

In Bolivia, as is in most of South-America, the majority of wealth is in the hands of few. Despite land reforms, the Latifundia system still prevails

The project’s aim was to set up water management facilities: channelling springs, storing facilities, dams, etc. In order to develop farming and increase production
SEAPAS has been working with Indian communities for the past ten years to support basic organisations, reassert traditional practices and improve the quality of life

This project is considered a top priority by the native farmers as it allows them live with dignity in their own community.
