Reequipping fishermen

Project region : Little and South Andaman islands

Aim : supporting the local fishermen

Course of action :

  • distributing fishing equipment
  • financial support for the 5 fishing cooperatives
  • organising groups of fishermen
  • building and repairing fish boats

 

Helping to maintain fishing

Straight after the tsunami we organised a first wave of support by distributing equipment to the local fishermen and financing the fishing cooperatives.

 

Our long term project was to organise the fishermen into groups, repair or replace their boats and restore their livelihoods
 

 

 

 

Local partner : WBVHA (West Bengal Voluntary Health Association)

Duration : 2 years (January 2006 to January 2008)
