Aim : Promote a more humane development, in order to include the most underprivileged
Course of action :
- apprenticeships and initial training of the coordinators
- functional literacy in classical Arabic and experimentation of different teaching methods
- ratification of efficient educational tools
A successful pilot project
The project was a complete success, with over 4000 people becoming literate in their indigenous language. Most of the beneficiaries of this project were youngsters, who acquired enough basic know-how to take up apprenticeships, enter mainstream and technical education and get work.
A teacher’s manual was therefore created and accompanies the coordinator through the various steps leading to literacy. It is a 73 page manual, written in Arabic.
A student manual was also created: A series of activity sheets around a variety of themes that encourage self-teaching and independence.
