Promoting traditional medicine
The sanitary conditions of the people of Cuzco and in particular the inhabitants of the Canchis province are extremely low. The socio-economic and political conditions in Peru, are such that the most impoverished populations continue to suffer the most. This is why we decided to support the PAC regional health care plan.
The main objective of the program is to promote Andean traditional medicine which has always been part of Indian culture. The idea is to train the population to practice this form of medicine to its best and therefore become medically independent.
1995 results : More than 4000 people were treated, 24 women’s comities were established, 11 medicinal plant gardens were set up. 216 promoters and 21 traditional healers were trained.
Partner : PAC (Programme d’Appui Communautaire)
Duration : 4 years (December 1990 to June 1994)
