François de Ravignan

François De Ravignan is an Agricultural economist from Greffeil (Aude). He conducted his research for the argricultural world in Black Africa, North Africa and Haiti.

He then became a researcher for the INRA, with whom he worked across Europe (France, Italy, Spain, Germany).

He is author of amongst other books, Les sillions de la faim (with Jacques Berthelot, L’Harmattan, 1981), Comprendre un paysage (with Bernadette Lizet, INRA, 1987) ; de L’Intendance ne suivra pas, an essay on the future of French agriculture (La Découverte, 1988) ; de La faim, pourquoi ? ; (La Découverte, 2009) ; and many other articles, for example Avec les paysans du monde (c/o Marc Ollivier).

Following his work in region of Aude, he published L’avenir d’un désert (Atelier du Gué, réedition 2003). He is the administrator for ADEAR 11 (Association pour le Développement de l’Emploi Agricole et Rural dans l’Aude).

After having completed a number of missions throughout India over the last three years and with the collaboration with l’association de recherche La Ligne d’horizon, he published Carnets de voyage en Inde 2003-2007 (A plus d’un titre éditions, Lyon, 2008)
After a research trip to Poland he published Carnet de voyage en Pologne (A plus d’un titre éditions, 2007).

Finally, he has contributed to the creation of a cd-book for children concerning food sovereignty ; J’aime les galettes… et moi les pommes (GRAD, 2008).
